Craton Capital is a leading specialist boutique manager in the precious metal, commodity and energy sectors, created in 2003. Their ambition is to grow organically to become a leading firm within the space through positioning their products at the top end of the performance rankings by delivering superior returns to clients. The team comprises nine individuals covering the areas of fund management, equity research, quantitative research, risk management and sales and operations.
In November 2003, Craton launched its first product, a long-only precious metals fund, Craton Capital Precious Metals Fund, which has provided investors with returns well in excess of most other asset classes.
The Craton Capital Global Resources Fund was launched on 1st December 2008 and has produced good returns.
The Craton Capital Renewable, Alternative and Sustainable Resources Fund, finally, was launched at the beginning of August 2009 and offers a useful single-point entry to an exciting new area.
Craton Capital has offices in Johannesburg and Zurich and representation in a number of major European centres.
The Johannesburg office, within close proximity to the one of the world's largest resources belts, provides the firm with a competitive edge in assessing resources companies.
The European office and other points of representation are situated close to some of the world's largest financial centres
