Harald Elgaaen has a long business career with emphasis on investments, fund management and finance after he graduated (siviløkonom) from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration in 1970. He left Gjensidige NOR Kapitalforvaltning (now DnB Asset Management) in 2002 after 14 years as senior vice president of Gjensidige in charge of domestic and global equity investments. Since 2002 Harald has operated as an advisor specialising in corporate governance as well as alternative investments. He was instrumental in developing the first national Norwegian Codes of Practice for Corporate Governance.
For some years he was a partnerof Crane Capital Associates, subsequently consultant to Bear Stearns Asset Management/Private Funds. Harald’s former employers include Banque Indosuez (now Credit Agricole) when he started and managed their operations in Norway, Den norske Creditbank (now DnB), Nordic Bank Singapore and Den norske Creditbank as their Representative for South East Asia. Harald has held various positions as a non-executive director of companies in different industries.
